  • How much does it cost?

    The BackUbox starts at $499 for our basic model. There is a flat monthly fee of $80, no bandwidth fees/per GB fees. In the case of data loss you can either restore over the internet, or you can pay for shipping/insurance on your box to have it mailed to you (this may be a faster method depending on your download speed and backup size)

  • What makes it unique?

    The BackUbox is a offsite backup solution that is yours; a physical device that is only for you. No one has access to your data but you. You don’t share space in a “cloud” like most other backup solutions and your data is encrypted for an extra layer of protection. You can still upload/download your data through its encrypted internet connection. Finally, should you choose, you can have your BackUbox shipped to you either to your own offsite backup location or to download your data at incredible speeds locally.

  • Is it for my business?

    If your business relies on computers, then yes. Accountants, lawyers, and medical offices just to name a few, could be ruined should something happen to their data without a secure backup.

  • Is it HIPAA Compliant?

    Yes, since no one (including us) has access to your data but you, you don’t have to notify your clients like you would with some cloud based systems. The BackUbox uses 128-bit communication encryption, the main requirement of digital transfers to be HIPAA compliant. To learn more about HIPAA compliance click here.

  • Do have you access to my data?

    Absolutely not. If you lose your data, we can help you restore it should you need assistance.

  • Is my data shared with anyone?

    Absolutely not. Your BackUbox is a physically separate device from other BackUboxes.

  • How quickly can I recover my data?

    It’s as simple as clicking a button! That’s how fast you can start the recovery. Depending on the size of your backup, the download could be anywhere from seconds to hours. In the case of your internet connection being too slow, your backup too large, or a combination of the two, for you to download your data in a timely manner, you can always have it shipped to you so you can download directly from the box.

  • Do I have to sign a contract?

    No contracts. You can cancel your service anytime.

  • Will you help me if I lose my data/ Is there customer support?

    Yes. We can be reached by telephone or email 24/7.

  • Is my data safe?

    Yes, your data is encrypted on your computer, then it is sent to our facility via a SSL (secure) connection, and it is encrypted while it’s stored in the box. It is physically protected in our secure location in Calimesa, California.

  • Where is my data stored?

    Anywhere you want but we suggest a secure offsite location such as our backup facility in Calimesa, California. Other geographically diverse locations are available upon request.

  • Why shouldn’t I store it at my house?

    It’s harder to be HIPAA compliant and ensure security. Also the practical purpose of a backup is compromised should your backup be at or near the original data source. For example, if your keep your BackUbox at your office and it floods, both your data and the BackUbox could be ruined in the disaster. The same goes for homes. If there is a disaster in your town like a hurricane, both would be destroyed.
